Behavioral Research

The Behavioral Research section of the New Jersey Institute for Successful Aging (NJISA) is focused on studying the psychological and social aspects of successful aging. The innovative studies conducted investigate many areas including end-of-life decision making, effects of exercise in the elderly, and caregiving.

The NJISA Behavioral Research Section is headed by Rachel Pruchno, PhD, who also serves as the Director for the entire NJISA Research Division. Dr. Rachel Pruchno is a nationally recognized researcher on family caregiving, end of life decision-making, and physical and mental health in adulthood.

In alignment with the New Jersey Institute for Successful Aging’s vision, the Behavioral Research section aims to promote successful aging and improve the quality of life of older adults utilizing the evidence-based findings from its ongoing research projects.
