Ms. Shands has 18 years of sophisticated survey research data collection experience.With responsibilities for managing all data collection services performed in the NJISA Research Call Center , she leads a team of telephone center supervisors and interviewers in the collection of high quality survey data. She is also a member of the ORANJ BOWL planning and operations team.

Previously, Ms. Shands was Assistant Manager of Field Operations and Manager of the Center for Telephone Interviewing at Temple University 's Institute for Survey Research (ISR). In these roles, she designed recruitment, training, and monitoring manuals and developed assessment tools. Ms. Shands assumed chief responsibility for training telephone center supervisory and interviewing staff. She also developed protocol guidelines and assessment tools for field interviewers and supervisors, and served as the senior field interviewer training coordinator.

Ms. Shands also was the primary mentor of all new Field Administration staff, leveraging her considerable and varied field interviewing experience gained while employed by several other survey research organizations including Westat, NORC, RTI, and Mathematica Policy Research. In addition, she has acquired hands on experience as a telephone interviewer and supervisor while assisting in the development and testing of new CATI, CAPI, and PAPI questionnaires and interview coding and editing operations.

Ms. Shands is a graduate of Temple University .
